SUMMARY:Mushroom Walk at Hale
DESCRIPTION:Join Nick Rajtar\, visiting mycologist from the University of Minnesota lab\, on a 2-hour walk around Hale looking for mushrooms.\n\n\nJoin us on a 2-hour walk around Hale to explore fungi. This event will be led by members of the Boston Mycological Club (BMC)’s ID committee. This year\, we will be joined by special guest Nick Rajtar\, visiting mycologist from the University of Minnesota lab.   \nThere are hundreds of thousands of fungi all around us. Some help trees thrive; others decompose organic materials and turn them into soil; some are destructive; and some are edible. Mushrooms appear as if by magic after a rain and often disappear as quickly. The BMC regularly searches for Fungi throughout MA\, and the walk leaders are very familiar with the types of mushrooms you may run across. \nAbout Hale Education\nHale Education\, Inc. is a private nonprofit widely recognized for its flagship camps\, youth programs\, family and community activities\, school partnerships\, and professional development opportunities. Grab your camp chairs and blankets\, because we’re hoisting our charmingly rustic movie screen between sailboats and building a beach fire on the shore of Noanet Pond. The movie will be Madagascar! \nNo need to sneak in snacks—you’re welcome to bring all the (non-alcoholic) treats you’d like\, and we’ll offer light concessions for purchase at the guard shack. Pack a picnic for dinner\, take in the show\, then do a little stargazing. Playgrounds\, restrooms\, and rinse stations will be open and available for your convenience. \nFree for Family & Community Program Passholders; a $5 parking fee (per vehicle) applies for visitors. \n\n\nHale is a nonprofit that serves 20\,000 people every year\, and we count on donations from people like you to help us provide outdoor experiences for all.
