Aketa Kapur
Aketa Narang Kapur collaborates with Hale Education to provide a differentiated model of preparation for the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure for districts in Greater Boston as part of the teacher diversification efforts of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Aketa has 20+ years of multilingual teaching and coaching experience. She has designed K–12 professional learning opportunities for school leaders, teachers, and paraeducators on the language and content knowledge, skills, and strategies required to meet the needs of culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse student populations. In Boston, Aketa piloted the first MA district-based Aspiring Bilingual Educator Pipeline and elevated the BPS Massachusetts Tests For Educator Licensure (MTEL) Program to be a model for the state in district MTEL preparation programs.
Outside of work, Aketa enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, Luna, taking naps followed by tree and flower watching, and drinking a nice cup of coffee or chai! Her favorite book is “The Story of Ferdinand.”
Aketa holds her Superintendent’s and Principal/Assistant Principal Administrator’s Licenses from University of Massachusetts Boston. She earned a B.A. in Psychology, Linguistics, and Spanish; and an M.Ed. with an emphasis in Bilingual and Cross Cultural Language Academic Development; both at the University of California at Los Angeles.
