Mushroom Walk at Hale

Join us on a 2-hour walk around Hale to explore fungi. This event will be led by members of the Boston Mycological Club (BMC)’s ID committee. This year, we will be joined by special guest Nick Rajtar, visiting mycologist from the University of Minnesota lab.

There are hundreds of thousands of fungi all around us. Some help trees thrive; others decompose organic materials and turn them into soil; some are destructive; and some are edible. Mushrooms appear as if by magic after a rain and often disappear as quickly. The BMC regularly searches for Fungi throughout MA, and the walk leaders are very familiar with the types of mushrooms you may run across.
