Amelia Porter

Amelia is a year-round facilitator, lead staff member at Hale Day Camp, and director of Pre-Camp Programs. Prior to working at Hale, she worked for many years as a camp counselor. Her summer experiences taught her a lot about who she is, the importance of connection, and what it means to be a part of something bigger than yourself. When she’s not working, you can find Amelia outside, usually exploring someplace she hasn’t been before, and taking pictures. Amelia earned a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Given the chance, a child will bring the confusion of the world to the woods, wash it in the creek, and turn it over to see what lives in the unseen side of that confusion…in nature, a child finds freedom, fantasy, and privacy; a place distant from the adult world, a separate peace.
