Hale’s 1,100-acre Conservation Win Offers Lessons for South Shore
At its Fall Equinox Celebration, Hale brought together leaders and community partners to celebrate the permanent protection of their land, demonstrating what collaboration can achieve.
The milestone represents the culmination of a conservation effort that began decades ago and required cooperation among Hale, The Trustees of Reservations, the Dover Land Conservation Trust, the Westwood Land Trust, donors and local and state partners.
As communities across Massachusetts balance development, environmental protection and demand for outdoor recreation, the project offers an example of how private nonprofit landowners, statewide conservation organizations and local volunteers can work together to preserve large, connected natural landscapes.
